1823 Church

Unique Structure for Sale

The church has a hand-hewn Maple main frame and hemlock/white pine studs with wide pine flooring.

The timber frame roof and truss system is spectacular, featuring a king post.

  • sanctuary 33 x 45ft. 18ft. high
  • vestry 33 x 22ft 13'high
  • tall steeple with post-bellum cast iron church bell, pull rope intact
  • two brick chimneys
  • tall narrow gothic windows with exterior milled trim work
  • large post and beam axe-hewn timbers

One story with flat tin ceiling (17' high). sanctury has small 6' deep balcony at rear of congregation.

A shallow entry vestibule with spiraling staircase off to one side no altar, but rounded vertical sliding door behind where the altar would have stood.

  • pine clapboard (1x8 boards) on sides
  • pine shiplap boards on front end
  • exterior paint is powdery with little chipping or peeling
  • flooring: wide pine flooring
  • new composition shingle roof (one layer), perhaps with new plywood underlay
  • foundation: large, square, quarried, various sized stones

Church bell is a 24"diameter 24" tall McKeeny built in Troy NY in 1866

One of the 2 front cathedral windows is shown below, with nice millwork detail.
